Instant Legal Letters

Terms of service

Last updated October 18, 2026

These terms govern your use of instantlegalletters.com (the “Service”), operated by De Faveri Consulting LLC (“we”, “us”). By using the Service you agree to them.

We are not a law firm

Instant Legal Letters is a self-help document service. We are not a law firm, we are not lawyers, and we do not give legal advice. Using the Service does not create an attorney-client relationship. We provide general legal information and software that turns your answers into a letter you send in your own name. You decide whether to send it and what it says. If you need advice about your specific situation, consult a licensed attorney in your state.

What the Service does

  • Asks you questions about your security deposit and prepares a draft letter and a case check, which you can preview for free.
  • Cites the state statute that applies to the rental, from a table we maintain and check against the official text.
  • Uses an AI model to suggest follow-up questions, to summarize your case and to write the factual paragraphs of your letter from what you told us. Legal citations, deadlines and amounts are not generated by AI.
  • If you pay, gives you the complete letter as a PDF and, if you choose the mailed option, prints and sends it by USPS Certified Mail to the address you provide.

Your responsibilities

  • The information you give must be true and accurate to the best of your knowledge. The letter is your statement, signed with your name.
  • Review your letter before paying. If something is wrong, tell us and we will correct it before mailing.
  • Use the Service only for lawful purposes and only for a deposit dispute you are a party to. Do not use it to harass anyone.

No guarantee of outcome

A letter can encourage a landlord to pay, but we cannot guarantee that it will, or how a court would decide your case. Statements about penalties describe what the law allows a court to award; whether it does depends on the facts and the court.

Price, mailing and refunds

You choose one of two options, charged once through Stripe: the letter as a PDF that you print and mail yourself ($19.99), or the letter mailed for you ($39.99), which includes printing and USPS Certified Mail within the United States. If you buy the PDF, you can add mailing later for $20. We aim to mail letters within one business day of payment. If you are not satisfied, you may request a full refund within 7 days of payment through your case page or our contact form. If we made an error in your letter, we will correct it and re-send it at no charge.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is”, and our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, including the outcome of your dispute.
